Your tasks & responsibilities
You will lead the development of our upcoming digital twin platform for LifeSaver, a strategic initiative aimed at empowering governments worldwide to significantly enhance their emergency response systems (ground and air). As we ramp up LifeSaver, you will collaborate with an external software development company to kickstart our digital twin solution and at the same time establish a robust technical infrastructure for a dedicated internal development team. This role involves:

• Providing technical leadership to other Software engineers and building up a technical team.
  
• Define the architecture of the digital twin to ensure scalability, robustness, security and performance for long-term growth.
  
• Evaluating, selecting, and integrating core technologies and frameworks that form the foundation of our digital twin platform.
  
• Hands-on implementation of a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) of the digital twin platform to validate architectural decisions and demonstrate feasibility.
  
• Enabling the digital twin platform for future AI/ML integration, ensuring infrastructure readiness for advanced analytics and model deployment.
  
• Setting up and maintaining the foundational software engineering infrastructure, including (remote) development environments and relevant tool chains.
  
• Coordinating and guiding an external software development team (based in Europe), including defining feature priorities, reviewing code quality, ensuring adherence to architectural standards, and providing technical leadership.
  
• Supporting the set up and growth of an internal software development team, contributing to hiring, onboarding, and fostering a strong technical culture.
  
• Collaborating closely with the Product Manager to translate product requirements into technical specifications and actionable development plans.
  
• Actively participating in customer and research projects, gathering insights, and contributing to the technical direction of LifeSaver based on real-world needs.
  
• Building a solid understanding of the emergency medical services and disaster preparedness domain, and monitoring technologies relevant to this field.
  
• Contributing to R&D and innovation programmes.
  

You offer
Technical Skills

• Master's degree in computer science or a similar field.
  
• At least 7+ years of practical experience in software development.
  
• Proven expertise in designing and implementing scalable, distributed systems, particularly in a cloud-native environment.
  
• Extensive experience with evaluating, selecting, and integrating technology stacks, frameworks, and tools to meet complex functional and non-functional requirements (e.g., scalability, security, performance, maintainability).
  
• In-depth knowledge of C# (.NET); experience with Java, Python, or Go is a plus.
  
• Solid experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), and strong understanding of cloud architecture best practices.
  
• In-depth knowledge of containerization (Docker); experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) is a plus.
  
• Strong understanding of relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL); experience with data formats like Parquet and query engines like DuckDB is a plus.
  
• Experience with API design and familiarity with data streaming technologies.
  
• Solid understanding of front-end technologies and frameworks (e.g. React) to build prototype/MVP applications and support front-end technology selection.
  
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices and the setup of (remote) development environments for robust development workflows.

• A genuine interest in developing “technology for good” that can improve access to essential medical services to many people around the world.
  
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and able to develop simple solutions that balance customer needs with technical feasibility and budget constraints.

Ihre Aufgaben & Verantwortlichkeiten
Wir suchen eine/n Lead Solution Architect für die Entwicklung eines “digitalen Zwillings” (Digital Twin) für LifeSaver. LifeSaver ist ein strategisches Innovations-Programm von Airbus, das Regierungen weltweit darin unterstützt, ihre Rettungsdienste (Boden und Luft) zu verbessern. Um die Entwicklung des Digital Twin zu beschleunigen, werden wir in der Entwicklungsphase von LifeSaver sowohl externe Softwareentwickler koordinieren, als auch eine robuste technische Infrastruktur für ein internes Entwicklungsteam aufbauen.
Ihre Aufgaben:

• Technische Leitung des LifeSaver Digital Twin und Aufbau eines Entwicklungsteams.
  
• Festlegen der Architektur des digitalen Zwillings mit einem besonderen Augenmerk auf Robustheit, Sicherheit und Skalierbarkeit für langfristiges Wachstum.
  
• Auswahl der wesentlichen Technologien und Frameworks für den Digital Twin.
  
• Implementierung eines Minimum Viable Product (MVP) des Digital Twin, um die Architektur zu validieren und die grundsätzliche Machbarkeit zu belegen.
  
• Vorbereitung des Digital Twin auf eine zukünftige Integration von KI/ML.
  
• Aufbau der Infrastruktur und Toolchains für (remote) Softwareentwicklung.
  
• Koordination eines externen SW-Entwicklungsteams (in Europa), einschließlich Priorisierung von Aufgaben und Features, Überprüfung der Codequalität und der Einhaltung architektonischer Standards sowie die übergeordnete technische Leitung.
  
• Unterstützung beim Aufbau eines internen Entwicklungsteams, einschließlich Auswahl und Einarbeitung von Mitarbeitern.
  
• Enge Zusammenarbeit mit dem Product Manager, um Produktanforderungen in technische Spezifikationen und klare Entwicklungspläne zu übertragen.
  
• Aktive Teilnahme an Kunden- und Forschungsprojekten, um Kundenbedürfnisse zu erfassen und die Technologie-Komponente von LifeSaver entsprechend auszurichten.
  
• Beitrag zu F&E- und Innovationsprogrammen.
  

Sie bieten
Technische Fähigkeiten

• Master-Abschluss in Informatik oder einem ähnlichen Fachgebiet.
  
• Mindestens 7+ Jahre praktische Erfahrung in der Softwareentwicklung.
  
• Nachgewiesene Erfahrung in der Entwicklung und Implementierung skalierbarer, verteilter Systeme, insbesondere in einer Cloud-nativen Umgebung.
  
• Umfassende Erfahrung in der Auswahl und Integration von Technologie-Stacks, Frameworks und Tools, um komplexe funktionale und nicht-funktionale Anforderungen (z. B. Skalierbarkeit, Sicherheit, Leistung, Wartbarkeit) zu erfüllen.
